Summer is a
great time to focus on personal writing projects-whether a short story, that
fantasy novel you've imagined, or maybe an entry for the Scholastic Arts
Program in the fall. Maybe you want to write fiction for a living, but don't
know where to start. Join local author Amber Kizer and learn how to apply
professional writing techniques to your own work. Want to know how to create a
three dimensional character? How about understanding conflict and making your
characters work hard for what they want? Interested to know how a book
goes from idea to bookstore shelf? Suitable for all writers ages 12 and
up. Signed books will be available for $9.00 each.

Local author, Amber Kizer's teen series GERT GARIBALDI'S RANTS AND RAVES uses a
diary to connect readers with what's going on in the deepest places of Gert's
heart and mind. In real life, journals are a great way to work through
emotions, keep track of important experiences, and spot trends, but they don't
have to be cheesy!!! Gert is gifted with a tacky and tasteless diary in ONE
BUTT CHEEK AT A TIME, but she makes it her own with duct tape, stickers, and
doodles. Join us to explore Gert's adventures in high school, meet the author,
ask questions about books and writing, and make your very own "Rant and
Rave Notebook" to take home with you! The project is free. Signed
books will be available for purchase at the event for $9.00 each.

giveaways, freebies, and you can ask any burning questions. Educators--looking
for information about school visits and workshops? Stop by and you'll be the
first to see Amber's offerings for the upcoming school year. Books will also be
